(There are a few things still on my to-do list.) All of the photos are taken from my interactions and experience with the activities listed. I hope you enjoy them all as much as I do!

Kohler Andrae State Park hiking and beach

Kohler-Andrae State Park
Sheboygan-ish, WI
This is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited here. There are rolling boardwalks across the dunes, plenty of beaches for swimming. Tons of great hiking and camping. Whether you have 30 minutes or all day, this is a must-see. You’ll need a State Park sticker or pay the fee.

The pier at Deland Park Sheboygan

Deland Park
Sheboygan, WI
The popular beach where many locals go to hang at the beach. Bring your blanket, snacks, and a good book to lazily enjoy your day. If you want to be more active, then walk out to the lighthouse (use extreme caution!) on the old pier, or walk out on the new south pier. You can also use a scooter (Bird) and enjoy the lakeshore path and around town.

Fischer Creek Conservation Area beach on Lake Michigan

Fischer Creek Conservation Area
Cleveland, WI (15 min north)
This lakeside park is a quaint little lakeside park with some nice wooded trails, and plenty of beach space! It appears to be on an old property as there are some remains, including flowers! Rumor has it this is a good beach to look for sea glass. Two little parking lots, not a lot of people.

Harrington Beach - Wisconsin State Park on Lake Michigan

Harrington Beach
Belgium WI (25 min south)
This state park is located right on Lake Michigan. It has a paved trail going back into the park, a large parking lot and nice bathrooms. Take the loop around Quarry Lake, walk along the shore, or explore all of the winding paths through the lakeside woods. You’ll need a State Park sticker or pay the fee. Not too remote nor crowded…perfect amount of people here!

Lion's Den Beach Hike - Port Washington WI

Lion’s Den
Port Washington WI (40 min south)
One of my favorite beach hangouts, this park is right on Lake Michigan, has a large parking lot and bathrooms. It has all the cool hiking amenities, such as boardwalks, cliff views of the lake, plenty of loops, and finally, a trek down a lot of cool stairs to get to the hidden beach. Plenty of hiking in the woods and along the beach. This is a hotspot, so expect a lot of people.

Bay Beach Amusement Park in Greenbay - ferris wheel

Bay Beach
Green Bay, WI (70 min north)
If you’re looking for the ultimate summering experience, Bay Beach is a little amusement park located right on the Bay. Plenty of beach views, amusement rides, food stands and a large concessions building with nice bathrooms. And the tickets for rides are super cheap! Tons of parking. Don’t miss the wildlife sanctuary right around the corner if you visit!

Entertainment

Ghost Hunts

Glenbeulah Cemetery Ghost Hunt

Glenbeulah Cemetery
I stumbled upon this goodie when I was a middle school girl attending a picnic with my BFF. We walked up this big curling road up a hill and to our utter surprise, found this ancient cemetery. We had a blast checking out the old headstones and dates. I have since revisited it in 2019 and am still amazed by the energy and intrigue. We found little toy animals placed by one of the stones. If you visit, please be gentle and respectful as I would hate to see this little gem get shredded by tourists.

Sheboygan Asylum Ghost Investigations
https://fox-valley-ghost-hunters.ticketleap.com/sheboygan-asylum-ghost-investigations/details
Why do monsters not eat ghosts? Because they taste like sheet! I have not toured this attraction yet, but it is nearby and has been on tv shows and is all over the internet. If you go, please let me know how it goes…if you make it out of there!

Haunted School Ghost Tours in Glenbeulah
https://haunted-midwest-ghost-tours-llc.ticketleap.com/haunted-school-ghost-tours-in-glenbeulah/details
Owned by the same folks as the Sheboygan Asylum, this promises sights of entities from the other side. Again, I haven’t toured this, so please let me know what interesting things you find!

John Michael Kohler Art Center (JMKAC)
www.jmkac.org
608 New York Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081, (920) 458-6144
One of Sheboygan’s greatest gifts, this contemporary art museum is located in a beautiful historical building and hosts some of the most amazing exhibits. You don’t have to be an art fan to appreciate what is here. And of course, be sure to check out all of the bathrooms…it is sponsored by Kohler you know!

Art Preserve
www.jmkac.org/art-preserve/
3636 Lower Falls Road, Sheboygan, WI 53081, (920) 453-0346
A remarkable new art museum featuring artist-built environments. I hate to admit this, but I have actually not been in here yet. All of my friends that have visited have, and loved it!

Kohler Design Center bathroom interior design with Maria

Kohler Design Center
www.destinationkohler.com/explore-more/activities-and-events/kohler-design-center
So maybe it’s not art per se, but it is a fun design experience to see Kohler display its finest products in beautiful displays. The mezzanine level is like an extravagant Ikea store with beautifully designed bathrooms and kitchens all designed by professional interior designers. The basement has an historical museum of the factory and advertising.

Gardens

Sheboygan Bookworm Gardens koi pond

Bookworm Gardens
www.bookwormgardens.org
A beautiful fairytale garden to be enjoyed by adults and children!

Green Bay Bontanical Garden
www.gbbg.org
About 75 minutes north of Sheboygan
If you are a garden afficionado, you won’t want to miss this opportunity! And if you’re making the trip, you won’t want to miss the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary as well. I have only been in the parking lot because I had the dogs with me, but I took my mom and she loved it.

Hiking the Ice Age Trail

Map of IAT - hike the Ice Age Trail across WI

Learn all you need to know about the trail right here »

Going across the entire state of Wisconsin, this through-trail runs from the upper west side, down towards the south, then back again up to the north east side.

For a deep Kettle Moraine experience, look for trails near Glenbeulah, Greenbush, Cascade and Parnell Tower.

For a unique section, check out the Holy Hill segment. You can go off the trail by the shrine and walk through their stages of the cross, past the old cemetery and up by the building itself.

For plenty of beach, you won’t want to miss Two Rivers segment! It goes through plenty of swamps as well.
